When setting a diamond in either gold or platinum jewelry, we recommend using a platinum head. Platinum's cool white sheen beautifully accentuates the sparkle and brilliance of the diamond, and its great strength holds the gem more firmly in place than a gold setting.

Part of platinum's appeal lies in the fact that it dulls very little over time and never tarnishes. Soaking platinum in a mild, detergent-free soap and warm water solution and gently scrubbing it with a soft-bristled brush is usually all that is required to maintain the metal's luster.
